Decatur man dies in workplace accident at Clinton Nuclear Power Plant

CLINTON, IL (25News Now) – The DeWitt County Coroner has identified the man who died Friday afternoon while working on an electrical transformer at the Clinton Clean Energy Center in DeWitt County.

Coroner Randy Rice said Saturday that the person electrocuted was 29-year-old Samuel Ward of Decatur. An autopsy has been scheduled.

Plant owner Constellation Energy Corporation released a statement Friday, saying Ward was employed by a contractor. The incident happened about 2 p.m.

“We stand ready to support any of our employees and contractors affected by this tragic event,” the company said.
